Jorge has been playing and coaching volleyball, since the dinosaurs roamed the earth. He was introduced to volleyball when his older sister made the high school volleyball team. He helped the coaches during his sister’s practice, and soon after, he was helping run practices. The following year he helped coach (while still in high school himself). He wanted to play volleyball, but his high school didn’t have a boy’s team, so Jorge joined the boys junior USAVB club. After high school, he attended the University of New Mexico and played for the UNM Men’s Club volleyball team. After college, he played on club teams and traveled the country to play in numerous indoor 6’s regional and USA National Volleyball tournaments. He also played doubles outdoor sand volleyball and competed in pro-am tournaments (such as The MotherLode in Aspen, Colorado). His experiences playing against professional volleyball players improved his abilities and understanding of the game. He has coached indoor 6’s club teams at the 12’s and 14’s levels, in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque volleyball clubs. Professionally, Jorge is an educator and has been teaching for 24 years. He works amazingly well with children and understands how they learn, which naturally helps him be a better coach. Jorge is married to his wife Joan and has two children, a girl and a boy…his daughter, Trinity has been playing for E3VB and his son Zach, joined E3VB this year. In the summer of 2019, Jorge played with his daughter in the King of the Mountain volleyball tournament in Vail, CO.
